Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and your rights

Under the ACL, consumers have guarantees concerning the quality, fitness and description of services. Nothing in our terms excludes or limits those guarantees. To the extent permitted by law, our standard hire agreement sets out further detail on remedies, refunds and liability.

Please note that the ACL may provide additional rights that cannot be excluded. Where a conflict exists between these summaries and statutory rights, the statutory rights prevail.

Hire agreement — key conditions

Driver requirements

  • Valid driver's licence accepted in Australia.
  • Minimum age and experience requirements apply; additional young driver fees may apply.
  • Credit/debit card for payment and security pre-authorisation.

Vehicle use

Vehicles must be used lawfully and returned in substantially the same condition. Off-road, racing or commercial hire beyond agreed use is prohibited unless specified in the booking.

Insurance, liability and damage

We provide options for insurance and damage cover. The hire agreement explains the included cover, excess amounts and optional reductions. Insurance availability and cover limits vary by vehicle and location.

Third-party liability cover is provided as required by law; however it may not cover all types of loss. Excesses and exclusions apply—see your rental agreement for details.

Optional CDW reduces your financial liability for damage subject to terms and excess. Theft protection and tyre/windscreen cover may be purchased. CDW does not cover wilful damage or breach of the hire terms.

A pre-authorisation is taken to secure excess and potential charges. Damage determination follows inspection; we will provide itemised charges and photos where possible. Disputed charges are handled per our dispute resolution process.

Fuel policy

Fill-to-return is standard. Charges apply if vehicle is returned without agreed fuel level. Receipts required for refunded fuel top-ups.

Tolls and fines

Lessee is responsible for tolls, fines and associated administration fees incurred during hire.

Fees, cancellations and refunds

Booking fees, excess reductions and optional products are specified at time of hire. Cancellation and amendment fees depend on the rate type. Refunds are processed in accordance with payment provider timelines.
